The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Foreign Language Communications Analyst in various regional offices across Canada. Candidates should demonstrate initiative, motivation, and discretion.
This role involves translating from specified foreign languages into French or English, working effectively within a team, and analyzing foreign language material to produce translations and reports that support investigations. The analyst will assess communications, provide advice, and conduct research on social, economic, geopolitical, and ethno-cultural topics, requiring cultural understanding and an interest in intelligence and politics. Familiarity with computer systems and social media is essential. The role may also include interpretation services in meetings and interviews.
Note: Higher education levels may be recognized as experience. Written tests will assess language proficiency.
Experience in interpretation or translation is an asset.
Completion of the Foreign Language Communications Analyst Training Course in Ottawa is required. The position includes a one-year probationary period.
While flexible work arrangements are being explored, most work must be performed in-office. Candidates must be eligible for an Enhanced Top Secret security clearance, which involves a security interview, polygraph, and background checks. Illegal drug use disqualifies candidates.
