Instructor – Communication Studies

The Opportunity We are currently hiring casual instructors to teach Communication Studies courses starting in Fall 2023. Reporting to the Academic Chair, Communication and Liberal Arts Studies, you have a passion for teaching diverse students, thrive in sharing knowledge and enjoy coaching students to succeed and think critically. You will be responsible for teaching communication and interpersonal skills through an experiential (task-based) learning lens.

The Role

• Instruct Communication Studies courses
• Prepare in-class and study materials for learners
• Evaluate student progress and achievement providing timely, formative feedback
• Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners
• Stay abreast of emerging pedagogical issues and educational technologies
• Attend department meetings and SAIT’s instructor training program

Qualifications & Experience

• Master’s degree or higher in Communication Studies, English or a related discipline
• Minimum of 3 years post-secondary teaching experience in a relevant discipline
• Graduate education and/or work experience in adult education would be an asset
• Good computer skills and experience teaching technology-enhanced courses are required
