SPECIALIZED INSTRUCTOR – AQUATIC ADVANCED LEADERSHIP INSTRUCTOR

Hourly Rate: $32.36 - $35.00/hour

Hours of Work: Varied hours, including evenings and weekends

Department: Community Services Department

Employee Group: Administrative Group

Work Location: Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre

Closing Date: Open Until Filled

Purpose and Scope

As a member of the Community Services Department, this position involves preparing lesson plans, providing quality instruction, conducting evaluations, and completing administrative tasks for assigned programs/classes within your area of expertise.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Represent the City of Belleville professionally, adhering to all Staff Policies and Procedures.
  2. Ensure the safety and supervision of participants, following all relevant rules and regulations.
  3. Maintain knowledge of City Programs and demonstrate strong public relation skills.
  4. Provide instruction and leadership for your designated program.
  5. Conduct ongoing evaluations and provide feedback to the Recreation Programmer.
  6. Complete attendance records and administrative paperwork as per Department Procedures.
  7. Respond to emergencies appropriately and complete necessary reports.
  8. Deliver excellent customer service, managing conflicts through effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  9. Ensure program areas are well-equipped with necessary supplies and equipment.
  10. Keep required certifications current.
  11. Attend all scheduled training and staff meetings.

Education and Specialized Training

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • High school, college, or university graduate.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR 'C' Certification from a WSIB-recognized organization.
  • Current Lifesaving Instructor certification from the Lifesaving Society.
Asset Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline.
Work Experience

Minimum Required Experience:

  • Previous experience in the related discipline.
  • Experience teaching in the assigned discipline.
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
