Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent reports to the Information Technology Officer and the Faculty of Science’s Manager, Administrative Services. As a Web/Multimedia/Mobile Developer, they will provide web design, development, and support within the Faculty of Science, and assist with frontline computer support, providing secondary support and escalation as needed.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of computer-based systems (hardware and software), including Windows, MacOS X, and Linux workstations.
  • Familiarity with common software applications and open-source software management.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server, LAMP web development tools, and integration in heterogeneous environments.
  • Ability to program using scripting languages or shell scripting for system management and web development.
  • Experience with modern web design, development, web frameworks, and database-driven web applications. Familiarity with mobile and other software development frameworks is an asset.
  • Knowledge of graphics design, 2D & 3D graphics, photography, and video production is highly desirable.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies as requirements evolve.
  • Leadership in IT-related issues, web, multimedia, and mobile; recommending and implementing improvements to the Faculty’s web presence and infrastructure.

Education and Experience

  • A four-year degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields, or equivalent.
  • Relevant courses in web design, development, programming, mobile applications, scripting, multimedia, graphics, photography, and video production.
  • At least three years of relevant experience in computer support, web design, development, programming, mobile applications, and multimedia.
