Location and Administration

Located on the Traditional Territory of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta'an Kwäch'än Council, our public schools in Whitehorse are operated by three school authorities: Yukon Education, First Nation School Board, and the Commission scolaire francophone du Yukon.

Position Overview

We are seeking teachers on call for the 2024/2025 school year.

Our teachers on call replace regular classroom teachers or education assistants on an as-needed basis. Responsibilities include delivering set lesson plans, maintaining a positive learning environment, managing students and expectations, and collaborating with educators to ensure student success. Additional duties may include supervising students during recess and lunch, as well as participating in arrival and dismissal routines.

Qualifications and Experience
  • High School Diploma
  • Experience working with children in educational or childcare settings
  • Bachelor of Education (Elementary, Middle, or Secondary) or equivalent training (asset)
  • Valid Teacher Regulation Branch Certificate or in progress (asset)
Knowledge, Skills, and Suitability

Candidates should possess:

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions with minimal supervision
  • Effective communication skills demonstrating courtesy and tact
  • Judgment to determine appropriate actions within established procedures
  • Knowledge of spoken and written French (required for CSFY positions)
  • Sensitivity to Yukon First Nations cultures and a diverse student population
