Position Details

Title: Grade 4/5 French Immersion Teacher

Reports to: School Administrator

Description

The Elementary School Teacher is responsible for teaching and supporting students within the SSRCE. The teacher will work within the Inclusive Education Policy framework, participating in individualized program planning with school staff and families to maximize learning experiences for students.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Valid Nova Scotia Teacher Certification
  • Bachelor of Education - Elementary
  • University education in French OR a minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching at least 50% French Immersion within the last five (5) years, with positive performance appraisals and/or references
  • Minimum OPI Rating of Superior
Desired Qualifications and Experience
  • French Immersion training
  • Experience teaching French Immersion
  • Experience teaching grades 4/5
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate with school and inter-agency teams for early intervention, service coordination, and program planning
  • Proven team member in school program planning and multidisciplinary teams
  • Knowledge of culturally responsive pedagogy
  • Current understanding of developmental trauma and its impact on learning and social engagement
  • Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development
  • Ability to develop, implement, and monitor individualized programs and teaching strategies based on student needs
  • Maintain confidentiality as a norm
  • Experience in planning and delivering training related to students with behavioral concerns
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse cultural and racial backgrounds
