H55 has established itself as a major enabler in electric aviation by flying four electric airplanes, securing Canadian customers, and announcing a new facility in Longueuil.

About the role

H55 is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for its product development of Electric Propulsion Systems and Modular Battery Packs. The role focuses on designing components, especially Battery Modules, collaborating closely with our production team at a state-of-the-art facility nearby.

Responsibilities

1. Design lightweight, manufacturing-optimized, and cost-efficient products.
2. Ensure designs comply with aerospace regulatory standards, emphasizing safety and performance.
3. Support designs with engineering calculations and practices.
4. Prepare and review drawings, schematics, bills of materials, and documentation for manufacturing, testing, and installation.
5. Define test configurations to de-risk technology towards certification.
6. Analyze and implement solutions for problem reports and change requests.
7. Support product manufacturing by analyzing deviation requests and addressing supplier technical questions.

Candidate Profile

• University degree with 4-7 years experience in mechanical component and assembly design and validation, especially with plastics and composites.
• Experience designing Battery Modules is highly advantageous.
• Knowledge of aerospace certification standards (EASA CS-23, FAA Part 23) and industry standards (DO-160, DO-311).
• Proficiency in CAD software like Autodesk Inventor or similar.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, especially machining and plastic molding.
• Hands-on experience in prototyping, testing, and manufacturing.
• FEA experience is valued; mastery of Ansys is a plus.
• Motivated, organized, precise, committed to quality, and capable of working independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
• Fluent in English and French, both written and spoken.

This role may require occasional travel to our headquarters in Switzerland.
