The City of Colwood, located on the traditional territory of the Songhees and Kosapsum Nations, is a vibrant seaside community known for its exceptional quality of life. We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and organized individual to join our leadership team as the Manager of Finance. This position is exempt from the bargaining unit and requires directly related experience in a local government or public sector environment.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORK

Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Finance and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will contribute to the overall leadership of the City of Colwood and be responsible for a broad range of complex duties, including:

1. Preparation of annual financial statements and municipal financial reports.
2. Coordinating the annual audit process.
3. Managing general accounting operations, payroll services, customer service, and purchasing.
4. Selection, training, and performance management of Finance Department staff.

You will also model and promote adherence to all workplace policies and procedures, demonstrating leadership and commitment to ethical conduct and contributing to a safe work environment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications include:

1. A degree or diploma in a related business program with intermediate financial accounting courses.
2. Professional Accounting designation (CPA) is required.
3. A minimum of five years of related professional experience, including supervisory experience.
4. Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills.
5. Advanced computer skills, including the use of MS Office suite and municipal financial systems.
6. Ability to work efficiently under general direction with minimal supervision.

POSITION COMPENSATION

The recruitment range for this position is $120,135.04 to $141,335.34 per annum. Initial pay offers will be determined based on education, training, experience, and equity within our existing team. The full pay range extends to $162,535.64 per annum.
