Job description

Job Title: Development Director
Contract: Permanent Full Time

Our client is a community-based nonprofit social services agency dedicated to providing effective, accessible, quality mental health treatment, prevention and outreach services to children, youth, women and families in Toronto.

We are searching for a skilled and experienced professional fundraiser to fill this exciting management position. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development Director will be responsible for developing and implementing a development and communications program that incorporates: Corporate and Foundation Grants; Fundraising Events, e-donations, Direct Mail and Social Media.

Responsibilities
  1. Creates, implements and monitors an annual development plan which increases revenues to support the strategic directions of the organization; and evaluates and reports on the results.
  2. Works with key volunteers from the Board and Development Committee to identify, cultivate and solicit funds from corporate, community and individual prospects.
  3. Prepares fundraising proposals for corporate, foundation and individual donors. Plans, organizes and manages the implementation of agency hosted fundraising events and coordinates agency's involvement in third party events.
  4. Develops communications materials related to fundraising activities including website content, advertising, brochures, cases for support, solicitation letters, thank you letters, newsletters and annual reports.
  5. Develops and implements donor recognition and stewardship programs.
  6. Coordinates the Agency Website and leads the Agency's conversion to digital communication and Social Media opportunities.
  7. Ensures that proper and effective systems are in place for fundraising data management including: tracking; monitoring; reporting and receipting fundraising revenues.
  8. Provides staff support and guidance for the Development Committee and the Silver Linings Event Committee.
  9. Participates as a member of the Agency's Management and Leadership teams.
  10. Maintains up to date knowledge of current and emerging charitable sector trends and legislation.
Qualifications:
  1. University degree, preferably in marketing, business development, or a related field.
  2. An AFP Member with a post-secondary certificate in Fundraising Management and/or CFRE designation are considered assets.
  3. Three to five years of fundraising experience with a proven record of success raising funds from non-government sources.
  4. Demonstrated abilities in managing events and proposal writing.
  5. Exceptional interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.
  6. Proven ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with agency stakeholders including, donors, staff and volunteers.
  7. Must be results-oriented and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and multitask while working in a fast-paced business environment.
  8. Experience with e-solicitation campaigns and social media applications.
  9. Excellent project management skills, with a proven ability to manage timelines and budgets.
  10. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  11. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications and Income Manager (or similar donor management database software). Major gift experience is a definite asset.
