About This Role

Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Glenburnie, Ontario is currently recruiting for a full-time Groundsperson.

Glen Haven has over 32 developed acres and performs more than 300 interments annually. The property includes an onsite reception center, funeral home, administration and sales office, indoor Mausoleum, and Columbarium.

The successful candidate for this position strives to keep pace with the ever-changing service demands and is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of our customers in a sensitive and professional manner.

This position is based on a 40-hour work week and may require overtime as needed.

Job Type:

Full Time, 6-month Contract

Key Qualifications And Demonstrated Abilities

• Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent.
• A valid driver’s license with a clean driving abstract.
• Mechanically inclined, with formal mechanical training or experience preferred.
• Heavy equipment operator’s training or certification is an asset.
• A certificate in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is an asset.
• A team player with a positive attitude, able to multitask and prioritize.
• Previous landscaping, horticultural, and/or cemetery experience is preferred.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform ground burials and cremation niche interments.
• All aspects of cemetery care including customer service, memorial and monument installations, equipment maintenance, and grounds maintenance.
