Job Type : Supply Contract

Location : All Compass ELC School Age and Center Based Programs.

CELC Programs are located within the following Regions and Cities in Ontario :

  • City and County of Peterborough - Peterborough, Ennismore, Millbrook, Apsley, Keene, Douro, Warsaw
  • Durham and Clarington Region - Orono, Hampton, Courtice, Bowmanville
  • City of Kawartha Lakes - Bethany, Lindsay, Woodville, Fenelon
  • Northumberland - Cobourg, Campbellford
  • Haliburton - Minden

Hours : 0 to 40 hours per week. Hours are based on program need and availability.

About the role :

As a Supply Educator at Compass ELC, you will work alongside passionate, caring, and dedicated educators. Your role involves engaging, connecting, and learning with children, families, community partners, and colleagues. You should be enthusiastic about early learning, emergent curriculum, and lifelong learning. Creativity, resourcefulness, and energy are essential to creating learning opportunities, building connections, and engaging with children and families.

Using our registry system, Smart Find Express, you will pick up shifts at any of our 42 licensed child care programs. A minimum of 2 shifts per month is required to remain active. Program hours are between 6:30 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Flexibility to work within a fluctuating schedule.
  • Planning, leading, and guiding interest-based experiences aligned with children's interests.
  • Observing and documenting children's learning.
  • Building relationships with families and involving them in the learning process.
  • Collaborating with co-workers, families, community partners, and children.
  • Ensuring safety by acknowledging children's diverse needs and backgrounds and creating equitable engagement opportunities.
  • Maintaining safety and cleanliness of spaces, equipment, furniture, and materials.
  • Engaging in play and supervision of children.

Skills and Qualifications :

  • Knowledge of the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.
  • Experience working or volunteering with children and youth.
  • Required training and documentation, including :
  • Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
  • Updated immunization records or valid medical exemption documentation.
  • Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators or a relevant post-secondary degree (e.g., Child and Youth Care, Recreation and Leisure, Bachelor of Education).
