Job description

Job Brief

Ensure the safe and effective preparation and delivery of correct explosive products to underground magazines or loading sites. Assist in troubleshooting and maintain all equipment types, supporting ongoing general site operations.

What You’ll Do

As the Underground Operator, you will safely operate and maintain loading and delivery equipment according to standard operating procedures, protecting company assets and ensuring their dependability. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing equipment when not in proper working condition. Other duties include:

  • Work independently, traveling between loading sites and the plant (overtime, overnight runs, and weekend work required)
  • Contribute to establishing positive relations between the Company and the Site’s prime client
  • Respond promptly and professionally, reinforcing the Company’s reputation for high-quality products and customer service
  • Possess general knowledge of handling, storing, and using explosives on surface (NRC regulations)
  • Understand documentation required for pumping emulsion explosives
  • Accurately complete all required documentation and reports within designated timeframes
  • Ensure compliance with Company HSE standards, acts, and regulations
  • Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with all safety rules and regulations
What We’re Looking For
  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
  • NORCAT Underground Common Core Certificate
  • Underground experience is an asset
  • Class 5 Driver License required
  • Mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills for hydraulic and electrical underground equipment are assets
  • Ability to work underground for extended hours
  • Availability to stay overnight during scheduled shifts (this is not a fly-in/fly-out position)
  • Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and team spirit
