Job DescriptionJob Description

About Sycle

At Sycle, we’re transforming how audiology practices operate. Our cloud-based practice management platform powers over 20,000 users worldwide—from local clinics to enterprise retailers—helping them streamline operations and deliver better patient care. We’re a growing SaaS company with startup energy, industry respect, and global reach.

We’re now scaling our engineering team and looking for a hands-on, startup-savvy Engineering Manager to help us level up. If you’re passionate about building great products, leading small, empowered teams, and being deeply involved in technical decisions—you’ll feel right at home here. The majority of our development team is based in BC so we're ideally looking for someone there but will also consider applicants from AB and ON where we also have teams.

Why This Role Rocks

This isn’t a people-only management role. You’ll work shoulder to shoulder with engineers—guiding architecture, writing code, solving tricky problems, and helping us build fast and smart. You’ll have real influence over what we build and how we build it, while helping shape the careers of talented developers. We’re looking for a leader who gets excited about ownership, continuous delivery, and scaling both systems and people.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead a small, focused product engineering team that ships fast and ships often
  • Jump into code reviews, architecture sessions, and complex problem solving
  • Work closely with product and design to turn ideas into high-impact features
  • Help engineers grow in both their craft and their careers
  • Bring clarity to projects, unblock teams, and keep everything moving
  • Promote technical excellence, security, performance, and reliability
  • Advocate for modern dev practices like CI/CD, test automation, and observability
  • Roll up your sleeves—this role is still technical, and we want you involved in the trenches
  • Help hire top-tier talent and build an amazing team culture
  • Embrace the chaos (a little) and help us evolve processes that scale with the team

What You Bring

  • Experience leading software engineers in a high-growth, product-driven environment
  • A strong technical foundation—you're comfortable discussing tradeoffs, reviewing code, and setting architectural direction
  • Experience with one or more of our core tech: PHP (Laravel is a plus), Ruby on Rails, Node.js, Python, or Java
  • Frontend chops with React, Vue, or similar frameworks
  • Solid knowledge of relational databases and SQL
  • You're DevOps-friendly—familiar with CI/CD, Git, cloud infrastructure, and security best practices
  • Passion for building maintainable, elegant, and user-focused software
  • Clear, kind communicator—able to work across teams and with customers when needed
  • Strong startup mindset: bias for action, comfort with ambiguity, and a desire to make a real impact

Extra Credit For:

  • Experience scaling SaaS platforms or customer-facing products
  • Familiarity with healthcare or regulated industries
  • Previous experience as a founder, team lead, or tech lead in a startup environment
  • Contributions to open source or community projects

Perks & Benefits

  • Fully remote, flexible work culture (Canada only)
  • 3+ weeks paid vacation + statutory holidays
  • Full health coverage (medical, dental, vision, pharma, and alternative services)
  • RRSP matching
  • Internet subsidy + learning and development budget
  • Paid parental leave
  • A say in what we build and how we grow

Sound Like You?

We’re not just looking for a manager—we want a builder, a mentor, and a leader. If you're ready to scale a product and a team, and want to work with a supportive group of people who care deeply about what they do, let’s talk. Apply now!
