P&H Milling

P&H is the largest Canadian-owned milling company. The P&H Milling Group sources wheat from Western Canada, Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada to produce quality flour and cereal products. The lineup includes hard red spring wheat flour for breads and other bakery products, soft winter wheat flour for cakes and cookies, as well as semolina flour for pasta, organic flour, and atta flour for chappati. In our specialty milling operation in Saskatoon, we also mill pea fractions.

From its mills in Halifax, Nova Scotia; Montreal, Quebec; Acton, Hanover, and Cambridge, Ontario; Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and Lethbridge, Alberta, the P&H Milling Group supplies flour to customers throughout Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Iceland, and Pacific Rim countries.

Your Role

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Shunt Driver to join our team. As a Shunt Driver, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently moving trailers and containers within our warehouse or distribution yard. This is a critical role that ensures the smooth flow of goods in and out of our facility.

Day to Day

We offer a variety of shifts to accommodate different schedules.

  • Shunter 1:
    Hours: 12:00 AM – 10:00 AM
    Days: Monday – Friday
  • Shunter 2:
    Hours: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM
    Days: Monday – Friday
  • Shunter 3:
    Monday – Thursday: 6:00 PM – 4:00 AM
    Friday: 2:00 PM – 12:00 AM
  • Shunter 4 (Spare):
    Hours: Vary based on operational needs
    Coverage: Wednesday – Sunday and Holidays/Driver Coverage
Responsibilities
  • Operate dry box or bulk tankers to move goods to designated parking spots or loading docks.
  • Organize inventory by positioning trailers in a manner that facilitates efficient loading and unloading operations.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while operating vehicles within the yard, including obeying speed limits and maintaining awareness of pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of shunt trucks, reporting any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to supervisors.
  • Communicate effectively with warehouse personnel, truck drivers, and other team members to coordinate trailer movements and ensure smooth operations.
  • Complete necessary paperwork or electronic logs related to trailer movements, inventory counts, and vehicle inspections.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks on shunt trucks to keep them in good working order.
Required Qualifications
  • Possession of an Ontario Class AZ license along with a clear drivers abstract and medical in good standing.
  • Minimum 5 years of driving experience is required or truck driving school graduate and 3 years of experience.
  • Able to safely lift and carry up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work morning, afternoon, and evening start times per customer delivery requests.
