Job Title:
Senior Structural Mining Engineer

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil / Structural engineering.

Job Summary:
Our client is currently looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join their team in Vaughan, Ontario!

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Director of Engineering, structural Engineer and EITs with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, cost and schedule.
  2. Prepare engineering calculations.
  3. Prepare technical specifications based on input received from other disciplines.
  4. Prepare and contribute to technical memos and reports, within areas of expertise.
  5. Provide input to engineering, operating and capital cost estimates.
  6. Review and evaluate technical work prepared by junior engineers, intermediate engineers, designers, technicians and technologists.
  7. Ensure all assigned projects are carried out and delivered on budget and schedule.
  8. Participate and assist in proposal preparations.
  9. Stamp documents and drawings as required and if appropriately registered.
  10. Work to ensure the implementation of safety and integrity principles in structural documentation.

Qualifications:

  1. Professional Engineer designation.
  2. 8+ years of structural engineering experience.
  3. Organized, self-motivated, pro-active, detail-oriented, and have good communication skills.
  4. Sound understanding of Design Engineering codes and technical standards.
  5. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.) products.
  6. AutoCAD, MATHCAD, MicroStation experience required.
  7. Extensive knowledge in engineering standards, codes and guidelines.
  8. Knowledge of mining-related processes a definite asset.
  9. Experience with Staad Pro or similar structural analysis software.
  10. Ability to function with minimal supervision.
  11. Experience in the use of procedures and workflows in the execution of projects.
  12. Ability to delegate tasks and effectively supervise others.
  13. Must be a team player and can work collaboratively with others.
  14. Excellent problem-solving skills and critical-thinking.
