GENERAL FUNCTION

The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager and acts as a leader in their absence. They represent For Eyes as a premier destination for vision needs and focus on delivering key performance metrics.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Achieve or exceed key performance indicators (KPIs) through quality and improvement initiatives.
  2. Understand retail business operations and transfer knowledge to improve sales and results. Stay informed about competitors and market trends.
  3. Assist the store manager in analyzing business performance and leveraging Retail, Lab, and Doctor synergies to drive results.
  4. Support business planning to maximize sales and profits, addressing opportunities for recovery.
  5. Partner with the store manager to lead and develop the team through training and guidance.
  6. Provide timely and constructive feedback to team members.
  7. Notify the store manager of any issues requiring development or disciplinary action.
  8. Assist in recruiting and creating a talent pipeline for the store.
  9. Ensure proper staffing according to guidelines.
  10. Maintain store appearance and execute visual directives with pride.
  11. Foster positive relationships with doctors and the community.
  12. Ensure team compliance with company policies and meet all goals.
  13. Anticipate and resolve problems proactively, seeking long-term solutions.
  14. Perform administrative duties and maintain a safe work environment.
  15. Work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  16. If licensed as an Optician, provide expertise on lens choices, adjust and repair eyewear, dispense eyewear, and perform digital measurements.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid state Opticianry license
  • At least 1 year of management or supervisory experience with direct reports
  • Knowledge of retail operations, processes, and policies
  • Strong basic math skills
  • Familiarity with POS systems, computers, and calculators
  • Excellent command of English, both written and oral
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Proven selling skills and problem-solving ability
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • College degree or equivalent
  • Leadership experience in retail and customer service
  • Knowledge of optics and current store merchandise
