Career Opportunity in General Surgery : Acute Care Surgery
The Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery, is seeking a Full-Time Associate Acute Care Surgeon to join our team at Etobicoke General Hospital.
Joining a division of eight surgeons, the ACS surgeon will be on call daily from 7 : 00 am to 4 : 00 pm, with 2-3 overnight shifts per week and a minimum of 1 in every 4 weekends (Friday-Sunday). The ACS surgeon must be available during daytime hours to receive all new consults from the ER, ICU, in-patient wards, and intra-operative consultations. The surgeon will also be available for daytime opportunities as a surgical assistant in the OR and will have 24 / 7 support from another general surgeon. Additionally, the ACS surgeon will be allocated one outpatient clinic block per week for patient follow-ups, including administrative support and overhead costs. Remuneration is fee-for-service as per the OHIP Schedule of Benefits and Fees, with eligibility for the HOCC stipend for completed nights on-call.
Qualifications
The candidate must hold a certificate of registration to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and have fellowship in General Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Excellent communication skills in English are required; additional languages are an asset given our diverse patient population.
