Organization : The Institute for Sustainable Finance (ISF), housed at the Smith School of Business, Queen’s University, is a multi-disciplinary network of research and professional development that brings together academia, the private sector, and government to shape Canada’s innovations in sustainablefinance.

Job Description : ISF is seeking a dynamic, professional and self-motivated individual to fill the role of Communications and Marketing Assistant. This role supports social media marketing campaigns, content creation, media relations, events and administration for the Institute.

This individual is highly organized, trustworthy and reliable. They are a strong written communicator with a keen eye for detail. They love social media and stay on top of social media trends. They have great ideas to engage and elevate storytelling across social platforms. Experience running brand accounts is considered an asset for this role.

This role is ideal for a university or college student currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a marketing, communications, journalism, or related program.

This part-time position (15 hours / week) is four months in length (extendable) and is fully remote. The successful candidate will report to the Associate Director, Communications.

Duties :

  • Develop, schedule, and manage engaging content across various social media platforms.
  • Monitor social media channels, engage with audiences, and respond to inquiries.
  • Track social media and media analytics and prepare reports to assess engagement and effectiveness.
  • Assist in drafting press releases, media advisories, newsletters and other communication materials.
  • Create multimedia marketing materials including professional quality graphics and video.
  • Support media outreach efforts, including maintaining media contact lists and coordinating interviews.
  • Assist in the development and execution of communication campaigns and strategies.
  • Raise the profile of the institute and related educational opportunities with post-secondary students.
  • Monitor industry trends and news to identify opportunities for content and engagement.
  • Support internal communications initiatives as needed.
  • Undertake various administrative tasks in support of content marketing efforts (data entry, event support, website updates, etc.).
  • Maintain acalendarof important dates, deadlines and special events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications :

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a university or college program in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing tools.
  • Ability to create compelling and visually appealing content (experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools is an asset).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Basic knowledge of media relations and public relations best practices.
  • Residing in Canada.
  • Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.
