Job description

We are a single point of accountability for designing, building, upgrading, and maintaining networks. Our expertise includes site acquisition, architecture, engineering & design, project & construction management, installation & maintenance, and product sales & distribution.

Purpose and Scope :

The Copper Splicing Technician will splice and maintain copper cables and various communication equipment for landline and wireless communications.

Responsibilities :

  • Install, repair, and test copper cables using bucket trucks, climbing poles or ladders, or entering tunnels, trenches, or confined spaces.
  • Work safely, following safety guidelines near power sources, at heights, in confined spaces, rooftops, basements, and roadside.
  • Climb utility poles with gaffs to access work areas.
  • Connect and rearrange cable facilities per splice documents.
  • Maintain tools and test equipment, ensuring they are in good working order.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and splice diagrams.

Qualifications :

  • At least 3 years of OSP lineman or telecommunications experience preferred.
  • Ability to safely climb wood poles and use ladders.
  • Experience with telecom construction duties.
  • Knowledge of OTDR testing and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of cable size, count, and color coding.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to carry up to 70 lbs., including extension ladders.
  • Comfort working at heights of 45 feet.
  • Physical ability to bend, stand, sit, crawl, climb, and lift during shifts.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license and authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to pass drug and background checks.
  • Meet the 275 lbs weight limit for safety reasons.

Working Conditions :

  • Comfort working at heights and in confined spaces, including climbing utility poles.
  • Driving utility vehicles and working outdoors often in challenging weather.
  • Travel and weekend work may be necessary.

Physical Requirements :

  • Work in aerial buckets with a 300-pound restriction including PPE and tools.
  • Lift and move up to 70 pounds, including climbing and operating extension ladders (~28 ft, 75 lbs).
