Job details
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy. Load and unload goods. Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: Air Brakes Endorsement. Driver's License (Class 1 or A). Type of trucking and equipment: Tractor-trailer. Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Willing to travel cross-border. Willing to travel for extended periods. Willing to travel overnight. Government programs: Recognized employer. Experience: Will train. Workplace information: On the road job.
