The Registered Nurse is a licensed professional responsible for planning and providing patient care in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care as outlined in the Nursing Department's Clinical Practice Manual. The nurse demonstrates initiative, clinical skills, and knowledge in caring for patients with complex needs. They are expected to effectively manage patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating treatment, reporting directly to a Nursing Director or supervisor. The role emphasizes the practice of the Patient and Family Centered Care Model in a best-practice environment.
Job Responsibilities
As part of Brigham and Women's Emergency Department, staff provide compassionate, personalized care. The department features a 21-bed unit with staffing ratios of 4:1, serving patients of all ages, including pediatrics. The ED operates 24/7, with a high-volume coverage strategy and advanced diagnostic services including X-ray, CT, ultrasound, and MRI. The hospital is a Primary Stroke Center and is developing a TeleStroke Program in collaboration with BWH and MGH.
