You will dedicate approximately half of your time to major labour market information initiatives, conducting in-depth economic and workforce analysis. Your work will help identify emerging skills needs, assess technological developments, and anticipate changes across Canada's digital economy. You will also contribute to economic forecasting, policy research, and workforce development initiatives. Working with quantitative and qualitative researchers, government partners, and industry stakeholders, you will turn complex data into practical insights. This is an opportunity to influence evidence-based decisions and contribute to research with a meaningful national impact.

Accountabilities
  • Execute research methodologies for labour market outlook reports, including longitudinal and cross-sectoral analysis.
  • Contribute to quarterly economic briefs highlighting labour market trends and developments across Canada's digital economy.
  • Support the development and maintenance of labour market information dashboards, analytical tools, and resources for businesses and policymakers.
  • Collaborate with provincial and territorial partners to align labour market data and support evidence-based workforce planning.
  • Contribute to the development and ongoing maintenance of a national labour market information hub.
  • Participate in advisory councils, co-design sessions, stakeholder consultations, and external events to validate research findings.
  • Work with quantitative and qualitative researchers and policy analysts on integrated research initiatives.
  • Translate project objectives into research questions, analytical plans, data requirements, and project deliverables, identifying methodological risks and dependencies.
  • Manage assigned research workstreams, track progress against timelines, and communicate findings, limitations, and potential delivery risks.
  • Conduct literature reviews and jurisdictional scans examining Canadian and international trends in the digital economy, skills development, and workforce policies.
  • Support the design and delivery of key informant interviews and longitudinal employer surveys, analyzing hiring intentions, skills gaps, and technology adoption.
  • Produce research papers, sector briefs, and data-driven insights into Canada's evolving ICT labour market.
  • Analyze the impact of automation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, clean technology, digital infrastructure, and other emerging technologies on skills demand across industries.
  • Examine employment, wages, productivity, and job quality to provide a comprehensive understanding of labour market conditions.
  • Contribute to economic forecasting and modelling, including input-output models, and integrate new data sources and methodologies.
  • Support economic impact assessments of programs using appropriate quantitative methods.
  • Collect, integrate, clean, harmonize, and manage complex datasets from Statistics Canada, RTRA, Vicinity Jobs, and provincial sources.
  • Apply predictive analytics and rigorous standards to longitudinal and cross-sectional research while ensuring accessibility, reproducibility, and transparency.
  • Maintain consistent definitions and classification mappings for digital economy industries, occupations, and skills across datasets and publications.
  • Comply with data access, confidentiality, and disclosure requirements, documenting their implications for analysis and reporting.
  • Collaborate with government relations, policy, and communications teams to communicate findings through accessible formats.
  • Engage with government departments, academic institutions, research networks, and industry associations.
  • Contribute to grant proposals, stakeholder reports, and evidence-based recommendations aligned with strategic priorities.
Requirements
