About the Opportunity

The Nooaitch Indian Band is seeking afull-time Economic Development Managerwho can either be based in ourMerritt, BCoffice or work in ahybridcapacity, with a minimum of two weeks per month on-site.

This role, reporting directly to the Band Administrator, is pivotal in initiating and leading economic development to foster community wellness and manage resources efficiently.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities to enhance economic growth
  • Implementing and evolving the Nooaitch Economic Development Plan
  • Researching market trends and analyzing competitor activities and customer needs
  • Developing and maintaining strategic relationships with clients, partners, and community members
  • Responding to inquiries and providing information about community initiatives and services
  • Collaborating across departments to develop and implement new products and services
  • Attending industry conferences and networking events to maintain industry knowledge
  • Preparing and delivering impactful presentations to stakeholders
  • Negotiating and closing deals to meet community economic goals
  • Developing strategies for community capacity building
  • Addressing community challenges including healing and family dynamics
About You

To qualify, you will need aBachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field. Proven years of experience in business development or economic development, preferably with a focus on First Nations communities in BC, will also be essential. A driver's license and reliable vehicle is required.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Experience in agriculture, tourism, or earthworks
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Proven track record of achieving growth targets
  • Knowledge of applicable tax benefits
  • Experience with business administration, government entities, and working with First Nations boards
