Cardiovascular Investigation Unit (CVIU)

Regular Part Time
Salary Range: $32.59 - $37.26 /hour

The Cardiovascular Investigation Unit (CVIU) at St. Joseph's Hospital provides noninvasive diagnostic cardiac testing including echocardiography, holter monitoring, electrocardiograms (ECGs) and exercise stress testing. We are supported by a team of cardiac sonographers, cardiologists, nurses, registered technicians and technologists. Our tests are performed by registered professionals and interpreted by leading physicians.

The ECG Tech performs ECG testing, holter hook-ups and scanning, stress testing and other tests. Our ECG Techs record findings and maintain accurate and complete electronic patient records, which are communicated to other team members to ensure seamless patient care. As a member of our team, you will work closely with other team members to provide optimum and individualized care to our patients.


Essential Qualifications
  • Successful completion of a community college diploma in Cardiovascular Technology
  • Registered with OSCT or CSCT (Ontario Society of Cardiology Technologists/Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists)
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working in Cardiovascular Investigation clinical setting
  • Competent in performing ECG's, Exercise Stress Tests as well as Holter Monitor set up and scanning
  • Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Impeccable organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience communicating effectively with internal and external customers
  • Demonstrated expertise in providing excellent customer service
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability in creative problem solving
  • Demonstrated adaptability as well as strong organizational skills to meet the changing needs of the area
  • Demonstrated personal and professional accountability and initiative to achieve and ensure high quality examinations
  • A commitment to complete other educational requirements as deemed necessary to support the CVIU Program
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in French would be an asset

Immunization Requirements
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing.
