Site Description:
Located in Labrador City, the Labrador West Health Centre serves Labrador West. The health centre has 28 beds, including 14 long-term care beds for levels three and four nursing care. It provides inpatient care to medical, surgical, obstetrical, pediatric, respite, palliative care, and psychiatric clients.

Position Details:

Position: Casual Security Guard
Site: North York General Hospital Leslie
Overtime: Overtime after 48 hours
Hours: As needed
Payrate: $23.00/hour
Posting Date: March 8, 2025
Internal Closing Date: June 30, 2025
External Closing Date: June 30, 2025

Schedule Example:

• Week 1 - Days: Mon-Tues, Fri-Sat
• Week 2 - Days: Sun, Wed-Thu
• Week 3 - Nights: Mon-Tues, Fri-Sat
• Week 4 - Nights: Sun, Wed-Thu

Key responsibilities:

• Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure safety and security.
• Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, reporting suspicious activity immediately.
• Access Control: Monitor and control entry points, ensuring only authorized individuals access restricted areas.
• Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly during emergencies, assist staff during crises and evacuations.
• Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and staff, providing directions and ensuring policy adherence.
• Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations and resolve conflicts professionally.
• Report Writing: Document incidents and daily activities accurately.
• Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work with staff and law enforcement for coordinated security.
• Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure policies are followed and address violations appropriately.

Prerequisites:

• Valid Security License for Ontario
• Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C
• Covid Vaccination (two doses)
• Immunization records (Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella, TB test)
• Valid G class Driver License
• Fluency in English (oral and written)
• Experience in security, law enforcement, or related field preferred
• Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) required or available via Paladin training
