Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)

Required Abilities, Qualifications And Experience

  • extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching all areas of this assignment
  • knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment
  • knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators
  • demonstrated ability to plan for and teach all required subjects at this grade level, to effectively address the academic and social/emotional learning needs of a diverse group of students
  • demonstrated knowledge and proven success with effective classroom management in creating an optimal learning environment, addressing the wide range of academic, social, emotional, and behavioural needs of students
  • demonstrated ability in enhancing student engagement through a variety of lesson designs, place based learning, outdoor education including integration of First Peoples Principle of Learning as instructional tools
  • demonstrated ability in the effective application of current brain-based strategies as they relate to self-regulation, mindful behaviour, problem solving, and implementing restorative practices in the classroom
  • demonstrated knowledge and experience of effective strategies to support the development of literacy skills; preference will be given to individuals possessing knowledge, training and experience with Balanced Literacy, including: Daily 5, Guided Reading and/or Literature Circles, Reading/Writing Power, Powerful Thinking
  • knowledge and demonstrated ability in teaching a well-balanced developmental numeracy approach utilizing Number Sense, Number Fluency, and Real-world applications
  • demonstrated ability and willingness to use UDL, classroom, school, district and provincial level assessments to plan for instruction that includes differentiated instruction
  • demonstrated ability to address the wide range of academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs of children and in particular children with Exceptionalities
  • ability to develop and implement CBIEP goals and objectives in conjunction with Case Manager, parents
  • demonstrated willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team to support student success, school-wide initiatives, including the school's annual achievement plan
  • demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with students, staff, and parents
  • ongoing commitment to professional development and implementation of best teaching practices
  • demonstrated strong media literacy skills with the ability using technology in instruction to enhance student engagement
  • demonstrated willingness to implement the goals and strategies of the school growth plan
