Job description

Employment Type: Permanent Full-time, Bargaining Unit (1 vacancy)

Work Hours: 35 hours/week (may include extended shifts and/or split shifts)

Work Setting: Exclusively Onsite (75 Edgewater Drive, Toronto)

Salary: External Rate: F7 - $50,162.63
Internal Rate: F8 - $51,186.35

Program Overview – Child Care & Family Services (Aquabella Child Care)

The RECE staff is responsible for caring for children in group settings, working with team members to plan, supervise, and implement daily programs. This role involves providing support and guidance to children, families, staff, students, and volunteers, while being flexible, resourceful, and respectful of individual needs.

What You Will Do
  • Guide and care for children in groups, plan and implement daily programs promoting social, physical, intellectual, cognitive, and emotional development.
  • Adhere to organizational policies, Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, and City of Toronto’s AQI, maintaining legal staff:child ratios and collaborating with casual staff as needed.
  • Set appropriate limits based on developmental stages, providing support individually and in groups.
  • Recognize and address unusual behavior, working with professionals to resolve issues when necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, participate in program planning, and contribute to team efforts.
  • Record daily attendance, manage medical information, and report as required.
  • Ensure safety, health, and hygiene of children, including medication administration, emergency response, health monitoring, and incident reporting.
  • Supervise children during outdoor activities and outings, ensuring safety.
  • Develop positive relationships with parents, participate in meetings, and communicate children’s progress.
  • Maintain and organize equipment and learning environments, supervise staff and volunteers, and ensure proper staffing ratios.
  • Report any signs of abuse, participate in other programs, and collaborate with external community resources.
  • Check outdoor facilities for safety, perform housekeeping duties, and participate in ongoing training.
  • Promote anti-racism and community development principles.
  • Represent the unit on internal committees and participate in performance reviews.
