The Grande Prairie Public School Division is seeking an experienced teacher with an inclusive mindset to join the Division's Multi-Disciplinary Team as the school-based Learning Support Teacher (LST). This team supports school administration and educators in collaboration with the Director of Inclusive Learning and the Educational Programmers. This position may include a portion of classroom teacher FTE.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience
  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate (or eligible to apply)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education
  • Clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Intervention Record Check
Assets
  • Master's Degree in Education/Special Education with coursework and experience in assessment (Level B) and positive behaviour supports
  • Experience and training in Early Literacy Intervention
  • Experience and training in Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
Skills And Competencies
  • Recent experience in supporting students with special education needs, including development and implementation of IPPs and coordination of multidisciplinary services
  • Skills in planning for diverse learning needs
  • Knowledge in early literacy and a strong understanding of balanced literacy, reading, and writing
  • Understanding of current inclusive education practices
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals and groups of teachers, focusing on student-centered decision-making
