Hatch is seeking a motivated recently graduated Civil Engineering Trainee candidate to join the Highways & Bridges group in our Thunder Bay location.

We are looking for adaptable, self-motivated students who are excellent at working both individually and in a team. We expect you to draw on your University and employment experiences to manage your time effectively.

You bring to the role :

  • Civil Engineering degree from a recognized University in Canada and graduated from within the last two years.
  • Must have a valid Driver license.
  • Inspection experience in construction of highway or bridge projects a definite asset.
  • Familiarity with CAD / Design software applications such as MathCAD, Excel, MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, EPA SWMM, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D will be considered an asset.
  • In addition to demonstrating strong academic performance, the ideal candidate will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, understand innovation, will be self-motivated, quick to deliver and a team player. They will also have a high regard for job safety and quality work.
  • Candidates will also be analytical problem solvers with excellent computer skills.
  • The position will allow candidates to directly apply and develop their knowledge in design of linear infrastructure for both front end planning studies and the detailed engineering phase for multidiscipline projects.
  • The candidate will be assigned to work closely with experienced designers and engineers who will provide guidance and mentoring.
