Are you ready to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic and growing organization? A leading company in downtown Toronto is looking for a VP Accounting to oversee its financial operations, reporting, and compliance functions. This is a strategic leadership role managing corporate finance, fund management, and investor relations. You will report to an excellent CFO and work directly with the President and other senior management team. The ideal candidates will have a CPA designation, prior audit firm experience, and either mortgage / debt or real estate experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee financial reporting, including P&L statements, balance sheets, cash flow analysis, and variance reviews.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Manage fund accounting and reporting for multiple investment vehicles, including investor communications.
• Analyze portfolio performance, focusing on loan composition, yield, and key metrics.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and coordinate financial audits.
• Oversee tax compliance, including preparation of tax forms for investors.
• Collaborate with HR on payroll and benefits administration.
• Provide strategic insights to the investment team by evaluating performance trends.
• Supervise and develop a team of finance and accounting professionals.
• Take on ad-hoc duties and drive special projects as needed.

Qualifications

• CPA designation with 8+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including leadership roles.
• Strong expertise in real estate investments, fund accounting, and portfolio performance analysis.
• Previous experience at an external audit firm.
• Proven track record in managing financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills with demonstrated team management experience.
