Dock Line Handler - On Call Position (3-4 hours per week)

Daily tasks of a Line Handler include:
- Tie up and release ships.
- Visually inspect the ship to ensure it is mechanically sound and free of defective equipment before loading or unloading begins.
- Check the last product contained in the ship.
- Hook up/disconnect cargo and fueling hoses.
- Connect hoses or pipes and operate equipment to load and unload liquid petroleum, chemicals, or other products.
- Disconnect loading arm/hose and inspect for leaks prior to releasing the ship.
- Communicate with the facility supervisor regarding any issues.
- Complete necessary paperwork/documentation as per client requirements.
- Assist with opening containers, filling warehouse orders, inventory, weighing, and checking materials.
- Wear a CSA Approved Life Jacket during the job.
- Follow the latest approved methods and SOPs strictly.
- Identify errors or defects in work, process, or loading and report immediately.
- Work only with authorized training and instruction, demonstrating proficiency as per training matrix before working independently.
- Contact supervisor if unsure about test requirements or work ability.

- Education: High school Diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: 0-1 years relevant work experience or equivalent through education.
Specific skills:
- Experience in Petroleum Refinery field is a strong asset.
- Willingness to work rotating on-call shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable working outdoors.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and with others.
- Follow work instructions safely and accurately.
- Strong time management and attention to detail.
- Work well under pressure.
- Extended hours and shift work may be required.
- Travel to other SGS or client locations may be required.
