Job description

Athabasca University's Faculty of Business is currently seeking a temporary part-time (0.8 FTE) Academic Advisor, ending April 2026.

Athabasca University (AU) is a unique, research-intensive, publicly funded institution in Alberta. The Faculty of Business is a major AACSB-accredited business school in Canada, offering undergraduate to doctoral programs. It is committed to supporting students, the business community, and society through innovative and accessible education.

The Position

The Academic Advisor is an integral member of the Faculty of Business, providing front-line support for graduate program recruitment, enrollment, advising, and acting as a co-contact for AU's University Relations IMC team. Responsibilities include administrative support, logistics for faculty events, and being the first point of contact for staff, students, and visitors via various communication channels.

Qualifications
  • A post-secondary diploma/degree in a related field with three years of experience in customer service, digital communications, or data management.
  • Experience working with data systems like Microsoft Dynamics CRM, MailChimp, HubSpot, and content management systems such as WordPress, SurveyMonkey, Canva, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Proficiency with business process testing and mapping using Banner, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and CRM systems.
  • Strong analytical, questioning, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, time management, and the ability to adapt to a changing environment.
  • Experience in customer service, public relations, and supporting students, with a professional demeanor and the ability to handle demanding inquiries.

Note: A combination of education and experience may be considered.
