Job Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY
As a House Person, you are responsible for cleaning and maintaining public areas of the hotel according to the House Person checklist and responding to guest requests to deliver excellent guest service in line with Marriott Standards. This is a unionized position.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Use appropriate cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces, complying with WHMIS regulations and hotel policies. Ensure bottles are properly labeled.
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance of public areas and corridors.
- Remove dirty linens from hallways and place them in the chute as needed.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors, hallways, ledges, stairwells, and inside elevator tracks.
- Pick up trash from parking P1 and P2, remove garbage, and sweep cobwebs.
- Unload truck shipments, verify supplies with packing slips, and store items in designated areas. Provide packing slips to supervisors.
- Move, arrange, and clean winter mats; shampoo when necessary.
- Perform snow removal at all entrances and assist with spreading calcium/stone around exits as needed, filling out the checklist hourly.
- Clean all landings, sanitizing stations, vending areas, ice machines, pop dispensers, and storage and chute rooms.
- Clean designated areas such as restrooms, gym, pool, public and lobby areas, offices, and bistro when assigned.
- Assist in cleaning the Bistro after heavy traffic flow.
- Perform dusting, polishing, vacuuming, mopping, shampooing carpets, washing windows, and cleaning/waxing floors. Remove and dispose of trash and empty ashtrays.
- Maintain cleanliness of the loading dock, keep it free of debris, and pick up cigarette butts.
- Keep staff rooms clean and organized, including emptying garbage and cleaning appliances.
- Maintain glassware and dishware, ensuring proper storage and labeling.
- Report maintenance issues and repair needs to supervisors.
- Stock and maintain supply rooms as per supervisor instructions.
- Perform deep cleaning tasks and special projects such as mattress flipping, furniture moves, and carpet shampooing.
- Deliver guest requests and amenities, assist with guest room cleaning when needed, and handle linen and garbage during high occupancy.
- Replenish supplies in pool and fitness areas, and perform deep cleaning after guest departures.
- Keep storage and laundry areas tidy.
- Clean rugs, carpets, upholstery, and draperies using appropriate equipment.
- Wash walls, ceilings, and woodwork as needed.
- Observe surroundings for property and guest safety, report damages, theft, and suspicious activity.
- Assist with luggage and bus tours as needed.
- Scrub pool area floors with suitable machines and chemicals.
- Remove debris from driveways and around the building perimeter.
- Work flexibly across shifts, including weekdays, weekends, and evenings.
- Assist Front Desk with deliveries and complete shift reports.
- Clean guest laundry room and assist laundry department when required.
- Participate in linen inventory and maintain cart cleanliness.
- Support new hire orientation and training.
- Adhere to dress code, punctuality, and hygiene standards.
- Pull linen during heavy check-out periods.
- Maintain reports for carpet shampooing and work completion records.
- Follow security procedures, handle keys properly, and contribute to building security.
- Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisors.
- Follow the Bona Code of Conduct, relevant laws, and emergency procedures.
- Ensure hallways and storage areas are clear of carts, bins, and trash at shift end.
- Keep luggage carts clean and sanitized for guest use.
- Use break times appropriately, ensuring breaks are staggered.
- Clean hanging lamps and wall sconces.
- Perform other tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- Ability to stand for long periods (up to 8 hours).
- Ability to walk, climb, grasp, bend, and push/pull loads up to 75 lbs.
