In a context of energy transition, our hydroelectric innovation projects make sense. From design to construction, our innovative team of experts offers turnkey solutions. By joining ANDRITZ Canada, you are contributing to the development of sustainable technology, a clean future, and the maintenance of a proud Canadian's expertise.

From water to wire – Be part of the movement!

To support the strong market demand for our products and services, we are looking for a design engineer, specializing in the design of heavy mechanical equipment. More specifically, the successful candidate will work on the design of hydromechanical equipment for hydroelectric installations, including overhead cranes, gates, stoplogs, trash racks, embedded parts, and lifting devices for water intakes, draft tube, spillways and water regulation structures.

The candidate's main responsibilities will be to:

  1. Participate in the various stages of a hydroelectric project (feasibility, preliminary design, detailed engineering, etc.) for new power plants or refurbishments of existing plants;
  2. Review and assimilate contractual technical specifications;
  3. Produce design notes for the equipment under his/her responsibility;
  4. Prepare technical specifications for some of the auxiliary systems, such as hydraulic power units (HPUs), pumps, accumulators and piping;
  5. Coordinate his/her deliverables with other relevant disciplines (electrical, automation, civil, etc.);
  6. Prepare components schematics complete with component key dimensions;
  7. Support the team of drafting technicians with 3D modeling and detail drawing of the equipment under their responsibility;
  8. Participate in the preparation of installation procedures;
  9. Review and stamp the technical documentation produced under his/her supervision;
  10. Support manufacturing, workshop testing, installation and commissioning of systems;
  11. Review and analyze installation report to ensure equipment compliance;
  12. Participate in the planning of engineering activities related to projects on which he/she is assigned;
  13. Assist the estimating department in putting together proposals by preparing preliminary design and sketches and identifying strategic assumptions.

Why do you fit the profile?
Successful teams share objectives, and they also share values! In addition to your strong skills and experience, we need someone with high motivation, a positive mindset, and a willingness to be part of a team.

The ideal candidate should be willing to work in a complex, fast-paced environment, with evolving priorities. Result and solution-oriented candidates who follow through with ideas and commitments will perform well within ANDRITZ. As our projects have large scopes and often require years to be completed, your perseverance will be valued with us.

The minimum requirements include:

  1. Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering;
  2. 8 to 10 years of experience in the design of heavy mechanical equipment for hydroelectric installations;
  3. Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec;
  4. Knowledge of current standards and codes;
  5. Experience in designing hydraulic and auxiliary systems for hydroelectric power plants (an asset);
  6. Practical experience in hydroelectric power plants or similar systems (an asset);
  7. Knowledge of 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D (Solid Works, Inventor, etc.) design software for supervisory purposes;
  8. Bilingual (English and French);
  9. Ability to work in a team;
  10. Results-driven and committed to continuous improvement;
  11. Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously;
