Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure projects are safely completed on time, on budget, and manage all resources required to complete the tasks.
  • Ensure efficient deployment & productivity of work crews.
  • Able to recognize, monitor, and mitigate any safety concerns on site.
  • Ability to operate all equipment functions independently and safely.
  • Manage inventory and supplies.
  • Enforce compliance to all client & company safety policies and procedures, and Occupational Health & Safety Legislation.
  • Ensure all work permits & required documentation is obtained.
  • Work closely with the coordinator & superintendent for overall planning, scheduling, material needs, and equipment requirements.
  • Provide daily updates digitally on the progress of the job.
  • Able to direct experienced workers and coach new workers.
  • Communicate all required tasks to the crew.
  • Promote, support, & facilitate teamwork between all construction crews by fostering a positive, visible teamwork attitude among all project crews, regardless of experience level.
  • Represent TCIS in a positive & respectful manner.
  • Able to set up traffic plans required to keep the crew safe for daily tasks.
  • Conduct daily & weekly safety meetings and inspections and complete follow-up activities.
  • Coordinate all trades/subcontractors.
  • Ensure new crew members are oriented to the job.
  • Identify other training needs for the crew.
  • Live within close proximity to Edmonton for on-call duties.
Knowledge & Experience:
  • Strong leadership & communication skills.
  • Experience in walking, lifting, operating equipment, etc.
  • Ability to read drawings and keep documented diary up to date.
  • Post-secondary education preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a foreman in Telecom construction utilities.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Hydro/Telecom installing cables, duct, pedestals, vaults.
  • Strong coaching/employee relations skills.
  • Ability to work in congested areas with live cables, conduits, and other sensitive utilities.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions & environments.
  • Ability to work a significant number of hours throughout the day.
  • Clean driver's abstract.
Schedule:
  • 10 hour shift.
Ability to commute/relocate:
  • SHERWOOD PARK, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required).
