About Our Opportunity

As the Student Park Attendant, you are responsible for assisting with the seasonal operation and maintenance of designated provincial parks.

Primary Accountabilities

Under the general direction of the Chief Park Caretaker, or designate, the Park Attendant is responsible for the seasonal operation and maintenance of designated provincial parks(s) including:

  • Infrastructure maintenance, vehicles, grounds and equipment;
  • Customer service and relations;
  • Monitoring park activities for regulation compliance;
  • Advising visitors of park regulations and reporting non-compliance to Conservation Officers;
  • Using the computer-based reservation and registration system;
  • Processing financial transactions, cash handling;
  • Compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and Workplace policies, Procedures and all Safe Work Practices at all times when on duty.
Qualifications and Experience
  • You are a student who is currently in high school (minimum grade 10) or a post-secondary education program and returning to school in the Fall or next applicable semester.
  • You must possess a Valid Driver’s License. The ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing and to work independently is necessary for this role.
  • Experience in building and grounds maintenance; ride on mowers, push mowers, string trimmers and knowledge of cleaning methods and sanitation requirements.

Assets include customer service training/experience; good general knowledge of local history and points of interest; knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and experience with internet, email, and web-based applications.

Your resume and cover letter should clearly outline how you meet the stated qualifications and position requirements.

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Working Conditions

70 hours bi-weekly. Duties often require working irregularly scheduled hours, weekends, evenings and holidays. Must be willing to attend department training in duties related to this position.

This position requires the ability to work as part of a team and performs strenuous manual tasks in an outdoor environment.

PLEASE NOTE: There is one (1) summer student opportunity located at The Islands Provincial Park in Shelburne. This position has an anticipated start date of June 23, 2025 and end date of August 30, 2025.

Pay Grade: HOURLY

Salary Range: $15.73- $29.69Hourly
