Position Summary:

The Data Circuit Provisioning Center team implements, verifies, and ensures smooth operation of customer line-side circuits related to Layer 2 and Layer 3 service delivery platforms. Responsibilities include provisioning Ethernet services, maintaining network devices, configuring and troubleshooting networks supporting customer NIDs, producing implementation instructions, troubleshooting failed installs, and updating network documentation. The engineer collaborates with engineering, provisioning, project managers, regional engineers, and end users to validate physical and virtual circuit paths.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Provision Ethernet Virtual Circuits (EVC) throughout the network.
2. Verify network design configurations, guide UNI system installation, and enforce policies and standards.
3. Use M6 (Metasolve) ticketing system to provision customer circuits.
4. Access web-based programs to support provisioning tasks.
5. Provision customer equipment remotely, including routers and wireless controllers.
6. Practical experience with equipment such as Alcatel-Lucent, Adtran, Calix, RAD, Actelis, Canoga Perkins, Cisco.
7. Knowledge of technologies like IPVPN/MPLS, VoIP, Ethernet, Dedicated Internet, Metro-Ethernet, T1/MLPPP.
8. Proficiency in Cisco network routing and circuit provisioning.
9. Ability to interpret circuit and design layout records and coordinate with project managers and technicians.
10. Knowledge of VLAN provisioning on Layer 2 devices.
11. Understanding of engineering standards, serial/interoffice circuits, and network inventory management.
12. Familiarity with Metro Ethernet standards and service types, including E-Line and E-LAN.
13. Knowledge of Quality of Service, specifically Y.1564 and RFC 2544.
14. Understanding Ethernet principles and complex network configuration documentation.
15. Knowledge of telecom topics: OSI Layers, Ethernet, IP, MPLS, routing protocols.
16. Strong troubleshooting skills across applications, network, and hardware.
17. Organizational skills to manage multiple projects efficiently.
18. Familiarity with protocols like HDLC, PPP, MPLS, OSPF, and others.
19. Experience interfacing with customers and telecom providers.
20. Professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
21. Teamwork and interpersonal skills.
22. Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, VoIP, MEF are a plus.
23. Flexibility to work on scheduled projects to meet customer demands.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, IT, or equivalent experience, with at least five years in the field.
• Experience in the telecom or broadband industry is advantageous.
