ABOUT THE ROLE


This position manages components related to implementing large-scale projects supporting YorkNet initiatives within the Region. Responsibilities include overseeing and developing communication strategies, engagement plans, event planning, social media, and issues management, in collaboration with other departments to enhance awareness of YorkNet services. The role involves creating and executing strategic communication plans to meet YorkNet’s objectives, promoting programs and services to internal teams, external partners, residents, and businesses.




WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING



  • Collaborate with community stakeholders and external partners, aligning with corporate strategic leadership.

  • Develop and execute engagement plans and communication strategies for YorkNet; guide dissemination of materials.

  • Support and advise senior management and leadership on communications and engagement efforts.

  • Partner with management and stakeholders to develop campaigns and projects that increase awareness and engagement.

  • Coordinate with other departments to promote YorkNet initiatives and opportunities.

  • Conduct industry research to promote YorkNet’s work and successes.

  • Analyze data to identify gaps and inform future actions for programs and initiatives.

  • Set goals and KPIs for projects and partnerships.

  • Assist in strategic and long-term planning based on research and analysis, focusing on broadband and connectivity opportunities.

  • Develop policies and procedures for program areas and recommend implementations.

  • Lead the development of evaluation frameworks for outreach and engagement outcomes.

  • Plan and participate in community events, information sessions, and campaigns, including making presentations.

  • Collaborate with partners on the production of print, digital content, exhibits, and promotional materials.

  • Work with internal communication teams to secure support for YorkNet objectives.




WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR



  • University Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in public relations or communications.

  • Knowledge of telecommunications, fiber networks, and broadband initiatives.

  • Experience in program development, public engagement, market research, and promotional campaigns.

  • Strong project management and coordination skills.

  • Political acuity and skills to handle contentious issues.

  • Ability to travel and work outside regular hours as needed.

  • Demonstrated leadership competencies aligned with the Region’s values.
