ABOUT THE ROLE

This position is with the SHAPE Capital team. The Associate, Loan Administration + Compliance will manage SHAPE Capital’s loan portfolio, including due diligence, closing, compliance, servicing, and monitoring. The role involves managing multiple processes to ensure proper handling of loans in the portfolio and pipeline. Additionally, the role offers opportunities to assist with market research and underwriting with the origination team.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain reports on loan statuses, manage the loan closing and funding process, including :
  • Assist originators with conditions precedent to funding
  • Coordinate with third-party consultants and review reports (appraisals, environmental, building condition, etc.)
  • Work with lawyers on closing due diligence
  • Coordinate with capital partners for loan closing and funding
  • Conduct site inspections and interviews
  • Review AML / KYC documents to ensure proper compliance
  • Maintain security documents and closing files
  • Assist with processing construction draws, disbursements, and interest payments
  • Prepare monthly loan and payout statements
  • Prepare and distribute portfolio monitoring reports
  • Oversee reporting requirements, including financial reporting, property taxes, and insurance renewals
  • Collaborate with accounting for accurate mortgage investment reporting
  • Assist with client and capital partner requests
  • Support market research and underwriting for reviews and credit memos
  • Help prepare presentations
  • Identify process gaps and propose improvements
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of commercial real estate lending and mortgage investments
  • Judgment, initiative, and discretion in decision-making
  • Attention to detail, self-motivation, and independence
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects
  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Experience with Yardi debt management software is an asset
  • Experience with Power BI is an asset

Required Training and Experience

  • Experience in commercial real estate loan administration, servicing, and reviewing legal documents for mortgage security, AML / KYC compliance
  • Experience with loan underwriting is preferred but not required
  • Experience with land loans, construction loans, bridge, and inventory loans
  • 2-5 years in loan underwriting, administration, or servicing within commercial lending or banking
  • University degree and relevant work experience
