The Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (“the College”) is the regulatory body for social workers and social service workers in Ontario, with over 31,000 registrants. The Role: Credential Evaluator (Casual and Remote)

We are seeking a Credential Evaluator to join our team on a casual basis, working remotely in Ontario. This role involves supporting and assessing applications through the equivalency stream of the registration process. Responsibilities include reviewing, evaluating, analyzing, and assessing applicant experience and academic qualifications, and making recommendations to the Registrar and CEO regarding registration eligibility as a Social Worker or Social Service Worker.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review applications based on academic qualifications and experience in social work or social service work.
  • Interpret and apply established registration policies to determine substantial equivalence to a degree in social work from an accredited program or an approved diploma in social service work.
  • Prepare comprehensive summaries of applications and provide recommendations for decision-making.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of three years of experience in assessing academic qualifications or experience.
  • Knowledge of credential evaluation in the post-secondary, regulatory, or social work sectors.
  • Understanding of professional regulation and experience with regulatory bodies is an asset.
  • Experience with research and applying findings to assessments, demonstrating sound judgment and strong critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, time-management, and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with accuracy and attention to detail.
