Software International (SI) supplies technical talent to a variety of clients ranging from Fortune 100/500/1000 companies to small and mid-sized organizations in Canada/US.

We are currently looking for a Network Engineer for our worldwide IT consulting and services firm that is working with a major auto manufacturer on a long term project.

Role(s) Required: Network Engineer

Location: Hybrid - 4 days onsite in Cambridge, ON, 1 day remote

Employment Type: Contract

Duration: 12 months + long term renewals

Required Start Date: ASAP

Total Hours Approved Per Role: 40h/week

Rate/Salary: $55-60/hr C2C

End Client Location: Cambridge, ON

Work location: full on site 4 days a week in Cambridge and 1 day remote with on site in Woodstock (approx 5 times/month)

Position Summary:

We are looking to engage an experienced network engineer to manage and maintain our company's enterprise network. As a network engineer, you will be responsible for researching, designing, and implementing improvements to our network as well as handling advanced support issues and mentoring junior staff. Ultimately, you will be a key member of a team that is responsible for the functional management of our network and the resolution of network issues.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design and deploy and support our enterprise network (LAN, WLAN, WAN, Wireless).
  2. Configure, install, and manage routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
  3. Monitor network performance and integrity.
  4. Mentor team members on technical issues.
  5. Maintain complete technical documentation.
  6. Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity, and scalability.

Experience:

  1. Cisco switch administration: 5 years +
  2. Cisco router administration: 5 years +
  3. Cisco wireless administration: 3 years +
  4. Palo Alto firewall: 3 years +

Requirements and Skills:

Knowledge and experience required:

  1. Professional certification (e.g., CCNP, CCIE).
  2. Solid background in network administration and architecture.
  3. In-depth understanding of communication protocols (TCP/IP) and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF).
  4. Network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools.
  5. Cisco Nexus and Catalyst Switches.
  6. Cisco wireless controllers and access points.
  7. In-depth understanding of network operating systems (Cisco IOS, PAN-OS).
  8. Advanced troubleshooting skills.
  9. Ability to work independently.
  10. Organizational and mentoring skills.
  11. Leading small projects.

Knowledge and experience preferred:

  1. Cisco ISE.
  2. Cisco DNA Center.
  3. Wireless troubleshooting tools (i.e. Site survey tools).

Familiarity with the following would be beneficial:

  1. Network Monitoring with Entuity, DataDog, Cacti and Solarwinds.
  2. ITIL processes.
  3. Scripting.
  4. Data Cabling.
  5. APC UPS.

Soft Skills:

Other:

  1. After-hours and weekend support and work is required with this position (smartphone provided).
  2. This is primarily an onsite position with work from home available 1 day per week. Emergency support and approved after hours and weekend implementation support can be remote unless the situation requires someone to be onsite.
  3. This role will include daily break/fix activity as well as project work.
