We Invite Applications For The Temporary Position Of

• 0.50 FTE Grades K-9 Blended Learning HLC Teacher - Outdoor Learning
• Must be able to provide face-to-face instruction in Port Alberni, BC.
• This temporary position is subject to enrollment.

The Heartwood Learning Communities (HLC) are blended learning programs for students from Kindergarten to Grade 9. HLC teachers support students in multi-grade classes with diverse needs and abilities. Each HLC offers face-to-face instruction up to 2.5 days per week. During home learning days, educators support families across multiple platforms, plan collaboratively, and engage with the greater HLC community.

The Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate

• Training, certification, and/or direct experience teaching in an online or blended program in British Columbia.
• Experience in place-based and experiential learning.
• Standard First Aid certification (Wilderness First Aid is an asset).
• Experience in outdoor experiential learning and outdoor leadership.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a teacher team, advancing curriculum integration, project-based learning, and personalization in multi-grade classrooms.
• Skill in creating online learning resources for learners and families (e.g., Desire2Learn, Google Classroom).
• Proficiency with e-portfolios (Seesaw), blogs, websites, and Assessment for Learning practices.
• Commitment to developing parent workshops and co-facilitating student learning.
• Experience coordinating community-based programs.
