Planning Analyst 1, Planning Analyst 2, Planner

Up to 3 Casual Positions

The District of Saanich is the largest municipality on beautiful Vancouver Island, blending urban and rural environment and home to approximately 124,000 citizens. Do you have professional planning experience and want to make a difference to our community? Are you looking for a flexible work schedule and enjoy project work? If so, we are seeking up to 3 professionals to be a part of our casual pool in the Planning Department. The successful candidates may be called on for short-term project work (research, analysis, policy development, and engagement), provide vacation relief, or assist with time sensitive initiatives. Here is what we are looking for:

Planning Analyst1:You will perform entry-level professional work and provide technical assistance and information to staff and the public regarding community planning, housing and development programs. You will have a Master’s Degree in Planning or a related discipline and at least three months of experience in planning research, data analysis, or public engagement.

Planning Analyst 2: This position conducts research, analyses and produces studies, reports and recommendations related to a variety of policy issues, housing initiatives and development applications. To meet our qualifications, you will have a Master’s degree in Planning or a related discipline and two years of planning experience.

Planner: You will be called upon to undertake a wide variety of municipal planning work. In the community planning role work could include managing community planning projects, designing and delivering public engagement processes, implementing principles of good urban design, writing planning reports and correspondence, and undertaking research and analysis.

In the Current Planning team your tasks as a Planner could include managing development applications, developing and implementing principles of good urban design, writing planning reports and correspondence, planning research and Zoning Bylaw interpretation. Requirements include a Master’s Degree in Planning or a related discipline and five years’ experience in the field of planning membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners.

These are C.U.P.E. Local 2011 positions with a wage of $40.73 (Planning Analyst 1) or $49.41 per hour (Planning Analyst 2), or $56.08 (Planner) plus 15% in lieu of benefits.
