Role Overview

The Community Supervisor assumes a leadership role as part of a team dedicated to strengthening client services and developing effective staff and work teams in program and service coordination, reporting, operational planning, and community liaison services to the designated Southeast First Nation Community.

Responsibilities
  1. Oversees the program/case management process within the unit by providing staff with consultation, direction, and monitoring on a daily basis, ensuring key deadlines and responsibilities are met.
  2. Establishes understanding of community values, strengths, and concerns; collaborates with other community services to achieve program and service objectives.
  3. Contributes to service delivery improvement plans and participates in developing new services or approaches.
  4. Mentors and advises staff with challenging caseloads, including intake, child protection, family enhancement, and family service delivery; de-escalates conflicts and facilitates cooperation in a dynamic environment.
  5. Participates with Human Resources in recruitment and selection; maintains and upgrades staff competencies through professional development; provides guidance on agency policies.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned by the Community Director.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. At least five (5) years of front-line case management experience with children in care and families.
  3. Experience conducting investigations, gathering, and analyzing information for appropriate actions.
  4. Knowledge of and familiarity with:
    • Indigenous cultures and rural environments;
    • The Child and Family Services Act, The Adoption Act, and related legislation;
    • Indigenous child welfare practices, First Nations history, colonization;
    • Crisis intervention, child protection investigations, high-risk assessments;
    • Substance abuse, family violence, child abuse/neglect, grief and community resources.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially documentation and report writing.
  6. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, CFSIS, and IM.
  7. Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
  8. Satisfactory Criminal Record, Child Abuse Registry, and Prior Contact Checks.
