The Process Unit & Utilities Specialist is responsible for maintaining safe, environmentally sound, and reliable asset capabilities within the refinery. As the steam chief for the facility, they will implement operational improvements and energy conservation techniques to maximize unit efficiencies and optimize overall energy consumption. This role will define and support project requirements, provide guidance for COIMS and risk management in area. The Process Unit & Utilities Specialist will work closely with the unit contact engineers to optimize the plant performance and to identify and resolve vulnerabilities.

Work Environment:
This position is a full-time employee position working a shift rotation located in Lloydminster and requires the successful candidate to live in the area.
What you’ll do:
Responsible for health, safety, and environmental performance, ensuring regulatory requirements are met for area including safety, environmental, AEPA, AER, etc.
Manage Control Lab operations to maintain a maximum testing efficiency and product control ensuring ISO 9001:2015 Standards are met
Be accountable for unit performance to achieve budget through-put and plant utilization targets, identifying areas for cost reductions
Be responsible for risk management and mitigations for area (HAZID, PHA’s, QRA, Bowtie, Barrier Health, etc.) managing and overseeing area compliance for incident and action management
Provide input to the short-term production plan (STP) for the refinery in conjunction with the offsites Senior Specialist, preparing business plans or justifications for engineering work
Oversee and track project performance to ensure priority and timelines are achieved or communicated, working with Operations Maintenance Coordinator to prioritize planned work
Develop short term and long-term plans in collaboration with other work groups (marketing, value chain, logistics, business opportunity, engineering, etc.)
Provide input and coordination of plant optimization efforts, plant start-ups/shutdowns, process recovery
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
1st class Power Engineering certification for the province of Alberta
Minimum 12 years of working knowledge of product specifications, crude & vacuum distillation principles
We acknowledge the value of transferrable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.
As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.
For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
