Zurich Canada is currently looking for a Professional and Financial Lines Segment Leader to assist in the overall strategy and management of the line of business.

Reporting to the VP, Industry Verticals, Canada Middle Markets, you will play a pivotal role in managing profit and loss by identifying key drivers within the portfolio and making strategic recommendations for improvements. This position is market-facing, requiring collaboration with underwriters, attendance at industry events, and engagement with customers and brokers.

What you will do

  • Provide expert counsel and guidance to underwriters, supporting training activities from a technical underwriting perspective.
  • Develop and monitor complex underwriting initiatives, driving analysis to determine the drivers of profit and loss within the portfolio and recommending improvements.
  • Assist in recommending product changes and in the creation or modification of new products.
  • Contribute significantly to process improvement and innovation, participating in operational change activities related to the managed line of business.
  • Disseminate key updates related to the specific industry segment, which may include writing white papers or articles and delivering presentations at industry events.
  • Address governance and regulatory issues.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including Claims, Technical Underwriting, and Underwriting Support, to manage problem resolution.

Job Qualifications - What you bring to the table

Required :

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Insurance area
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Insurance area

Preferred :

  • Bachelors Degree with 5 to 7 years of insurance industry experience, specifically with professional liability and cyber
  • Some experience with management liability, including D&O and crime would be an asset
  • Strong verbal, listening and written communication skills
  • Ability to be an effective team player
  • Ability to handle multiple and varied complex assignments

Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. The salary range provided is a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled. As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable range of compensation for roles. Compensation may exceed the range listed based on the evaluation of skillset and experience. The starting salary range for this position is $120,000 to $170,000.
