Reports To: Rental & Retail Supervisor and Manager

Position Overview:

The Rental & Retail Assistant Supervisor assists with the supervision of the Rental & Retail Department. They are responsible for helping and overseeing the Rental & Retail team and the town store guest service agents, reporting any problems to the Rental & Retail Supervisor and Manager. This position assists with scheduling and training, among other tasks to ensure that the Rental Shop and both Retail stores are running smoothly during the operating season.

This is a full-time, seasonal role from October to May, 5 days a week with the possibility of additional days depending on staffing. Alberta Employment Standards regarding probationary periods apply.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Assists with the organization of staff such as:
1. Motivate, encourage, and inspire your team.
2. Using Marmot Basin’s Job Share model, work with other departments to create staff schedules; ensure staff capabilities are coordinated and sufficient.
3. Provide support related to Workplace Health and Safety, WHMIS, WCB, and company policies and procedures.
4. Respond and/or solve staff problems and schedule issues.
5. Supervises and helps with the training of new staff.
6. Enforce company policies, procedures, and standards.
7. Delegate work tasks to staff.
8. Assist the Rental & Retail Supervisor and Manager with monitoring the mental and physical well-being of all staff.
9. Assist with payroll completion.
10. Assist with monitoring staff performance and performance reviews.
2. Supervise and assist Rental & Retail Sales Associates:
1. Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions using RTP.
2. Correctly complete a cash deposit at the end of the day.
3. Sell window tickets, Marmot Basin Escape Cards, and apply discounts where required at the Rental Shop Location.
4. Review and validate all Rental & Retail Department Sales Associates cash-outs and identify and communicate necessary corrections.
5. Monitor and improve sales performance and productivity.
3. Process orders including purchasing, receiving, unpacking stock, pricing, and displaying stock after input into the RTP system.
4. Review and approve bi-weekly payroll for staff.
5. Understand the RTP system and solve problems as they arise.

Qualifications:

1. Relatable post-secondary education related to tourism, guest services, etc. is an asset.
2. Previous supervisory experience is an asset.
3. Previous guest services experience.
4. Previous cash handling, debit and credit transaction experience.
5. Strong conflict resolution skills.
6. Business/Finance experience is an asset.
7. Retail, Rental Shop, and Repair Shop experience is an asset.
8. Ski and/or Snowboard teaching experience/qualifications is an asset.
9. Data management software experience.
10. Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
11. Strong computer skills with Excel and reporting systems.
12. Strong money handling skills.
