Qualifications

  • 5-10 years’ experience in a regulatory environment.
  • Familiarity with uranium mining industry and regulatory processes is an asset.
  • Eligible for registration with APEGS if degree is in Engineering.

In this dynamic role, you’ll be a key player on our regulatory team, driving projects forward by collaborating with leading experts, engaging stakeholders and rights holders to ensure transparency and trust. You’ll prepare critical documentation for environmental assessments and licensing hearings, contributing to national policy reviews, and your work will directly influence project success, operational timelines and sustainable outcomes. What you’ll be accomplishing :

  • Support licensing and regulatory objectives, risks and challenges to ensure an integrated approach to project approvals and minimize delays
  • Assist in preparing and submitting regulatory documentation for life cycle mining, milling and project development including environmental assessments and determinations, licensing requests, and applications to both Provincial and Federal regulatory bodies, including (but not limited to) :
  • Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission
  • Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment
  • Saskatchewan Labour Relations and Workplace Safety
  • Environment and Climate Change Canada
  • Transport Canada
  • Interpret and analyze regulations, guidelines, communication materials and policies; assess impacts of new and future regulations; participate in internal and public reviews including regulatory change and compliance
  • Collaborate with various technical specialists to review regulatory submissions including applications, notifications, amendments and licensing hearings
  • Support the creation and update of the strategic planning documents for regulatory actions, including multi-year plans for hearings with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission.
  • Participate in various internal and external working groups / committees, building relationships with interest groups / rights holders and fostering a collaborative spirit, ensuring stakeholders feel valued and included
  • Support the Corporate Social Responsibility team with community engagement activities and participate in meetings / events as required
  • Help identify engagement requirements related to the regulatory process for projects under review by regulators
  • Support the development and implementation of regulatory aspects for OCI’s integrated management system
  • Communicate regulatory topics to convey needs and expectations clearly to various stakeholders
  • Any other duties assigned by the Manager, Regulatory

Qualities and skills we’re seeking :

  • Undergraduate degree in an associated legal, political science, environmental, engineering or relevant science or arts discipline
  • If degree is in Engineering, must be eligible for registration with APEGS
  • 5 - 10 years’ experience in a regulatory environment dealing with provincial and / or federal legislation and / or in a project management role
  • Functional user of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Familiarity of the uranium mining industry and / or regulatory / licensing processes is an asset
  • Open to learning and takes initiative
  • A team player with a natural ability to influence others and is able to develop positive working relationships and work closely and effectively with all team members
  • Ability to co-ordinate activities, information and materials within own area of responsibility to meet tight deadlines and work under time pressure
  • Excellent analytical skills to problem solve, plan and organize competing deadlines effectively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to excel in a multi-disciplined team environment
  • Regular travel for short periods of time to operational or development sites as well as travel for regulatory meetings (e.g., Ottawa, Regina, etc.)
