Job description

Join Our Mission: Help the Helpers with Jane

Let’s kick things off with a quick intro. Jane is a team that’s all about fostering growth, spreading delight, and serving our healthcare community. We’re looking for people who are ready to jump in and join us as we simplify the lives of healthcare practitioners and patients every day.

At Jane, success means collaborating with your team, delivering an aligned result with efficiency and quality, communicating clearly and openly, and embracing continuous improvement. And guess what? Jane is a remote-first company, so every role, including this one, gives you the freedom to work from anywhere in Canada.

Your Role in Our Journey

As a Full-Stack Staff Developer on our Demo and Sign Up team, you will lead the charge in improving experience for potential clients in their final steps before officially joining Jane. You’ll drive initiatives to boost user acquisition, innovate and streamline the sign up and demo experience, and establish frameworks for data-driven experimentation. By mentoring developers and collaborating with cross-functional teams, you’ll play a key role in shaping scalable solutions that directly impact the success of practitioners using Jane, helping them experience value quickly and efficiently manage their practices.

The Impact You Could Have

  • Revamp Signup and Demo processes for Jane clients to reduce friction and drop-off rates through metrics and constant experimentation, growing the client base and reducing churn.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (development, PM, UX) to define, build, and measure the impact of features that drive high rates of acquisition.
  • Shape the technical roadmap in partnership with decision makers, driving long-term success for the product and customers.
  • Mentor and coach the development team, fostering growth and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to broader technical direction and decision-making alongside other technical leaders across the organization.

The Experience We Feel We Need

  • Our development team at Jane primarily works with Ruby on Rails, but we welcome applicants with experience in Java, C#, Python, and Go. You will have the resources to ramp up on our tech stack if you haven't worked with it previously, so please don't hesitate to apply!
  • You are an experienced full stack developer with a proven ability to take ownership, showing a strong bias toward action and always looking to improve quality, productivity, performance, and security.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment where you can take an idea and run with it.
  • Comfortable collaborating closely with design and Product Management teams.
  • You are adept at navigating legacy systems and ambiguous problems, quickly finding solutions and making an impact.
  • You excel in cross-team and cross-functional communication, ensuring alignment and collaboration across different groups.
  • You are comfortable working from a hypothesis and refining details as we iterate, bringing clarity and focus to the team.
  • You have experience mentoring developers, educating them on best practices and design principles, and creating a "multiplier effect" where your work positively impacts others.
  • You are capable of participating in medium-term vision setting (6-12 months) and effectively presenting initiatives to both internal and external stakeholders.

Compensation Expectations for the Role

Jane’s committed to paying our team members fairly, clearly, and above all, paying for growth. This role has a minimum annual salary of $154,400 and maximum annual salary of $241,300. As you may have noticed, this salary range is quite large, and this is intentional to account for the growth someone will experience in the role throughout their time at Jane (i.e., from building the skills, to accomplished, to highly proficient, all the way to achieving excellence in the role). When hiring talented folks to join the Jane team, we’ve found that new team members are best set up for success when hired with the expectation of being fully accomplished in the role, which for this role would reflect a starting salary of $183,400.

It's also possible to join Jane at a salary above or below this, which would mean a salary below $183,400 typically reflects someone who has all the potential to be fully accomplished in the role but doesn't yet possess all the skills required, while a salary above $183,400 is typically for individuals who are currently in this role at Jane and had the opportunity to make a significant positive impact on our customers, product and company with deep Jane knowledge. At Jane, we pay for growth, which means that you’ll continue to have conversations about your career development with your manager and see your compensation grow over time as you build an amazing career with us.

At Jane, we’re committed to fostering an environment that allows you to come to work as your truest self. We believe it’s important to actively recognize, embrace, and celebrate our differences in order to make Jane an inclusive, equitable, and diverse workplace.

We want to build a team of people who make conversations rich with perspective and experience. We are committed to listening to every voice in order to learn and grow because doing this will allow us to meet the needs of the diverse community of helpers that Jane serves.

We do not tolerate discrimination, prejudice, or oppressive isms of any kind. Employment is decided on the basis of qualifications, merit, experience, and the needs of the Jane community. We encourage anyone who requires accommodation or adjustments throughout the interview process to let us know, and we will do our best to support you.
