The Senior Manager for Production Control has overall accountability for mid- and long-term activities by overseeing Production Control Management related to production planning, order fulfillment, all aspects of Warehouse Management Operations including Inbound Receiving, Outbound Shipping, Packaging & Logistics, and Service.
Responsibilities
Production Control:
Develop and implement warehouse strategy, aligning with operations and goals and customer demands.
Lead and mentor a minimum of 3 managers, providing guidance and support.
Support in decision making for component inventory ordering for domestic and overseas shipments, including review and approval of costs.
Demonstrate the ability to develop and utilize data to make real-time decisions and strategic planning.
Effectively use problem-solving tools to identify root causes and implement interim and permanent corrective actions.
Set clear goals and KPIs, regularly monitoring performance and providing feedback to ensure continuous improvement.
Serve as the point of escalation for production planning issues, supporting the team in resolving challenges related to scheduling, capacity, demand fluctuations, or logistic issues.
Accountable for all warehouse operations, including receiving, inventory control, physical inventory counts, and shipping.
Implement, manage, and optimize Warehouse Management System (WMS) to ensure accurate inventory tracking, efficient ordering processing, picking, and timely shipments.
Enhance and implement inventory control procedures to minimize shrinkage and align inventory levels with demand forecasts.
Proven ability to develop start-to-finish process flows, identifying gaps and leading improvement changes with cross-functional teams.
Provide leadership and guidance in logistics processes, dock audits, and transportation management.
Develop and manage production control and warehouse budgets, sub-direct labor costs, and freight, ensuring cost-effective operations.
Leverage lean manufacturing methodologies to influence continuous improvement, sponsor project development, and execution; as well as partner with business partners to streamline processes and foster cross-functional relationships.
Develop and manage goals and performance objectives (KPIs), performance management, and leadership development.
Design and implement a safe and efficient material conveyance strategy to reduce forklift traffic.
Develop and implement strategies to improve warehouse policies, procedures, efficiencies to reduce costs, and meet service level agreements and North America standards.
Participate in weekly, monthly management meetings including preparing and presenting updates on Delivery, Production Planning, and Inventory Management.
Assist the director in all aspects of organizational objectives and support, including team morale and interface with senior leadership regarding solutions to complex issues.
Manage increasingly competing priorities and deadlines, providing outstanding support to our internal partners and external customers.
Utilize pull system philosophy (Repetitive and Non-Repetitive Kanban) and Heijunka to manage the flow of information and material, and constraint management.
Maintain a strong sense of urgency to support and remain actively present on the warehouse floor to identify, support, and solve issues.
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in manufacturing warehouse management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
In-depth knowledge of Production Control and planning experience (management level) with proven understanding of planning, forecasting, and customer demand understanding of component inventory ordering.
Proven experience in Tier 1 or OEM.
Proven ability to lead and manage large teams in a fast-paced environment.
Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory control processes, and ERP systems (CIGMA).
Experience with budgeting, cost control, and performance tracking.
Demonstrated ability to analyze data, create reports to make factual data-driven decisions.
Experience creating cross-functional process flows (Visio) and leading gap analysis and process improvements.
Strong background in problem-solving, root cause analysis, and kaizens.
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or equivalent related work experience.
Salary: CAD $135,000-$150,000.
